The Reader's Room
A quiet single-facing room with a deep window seat, built-in bookshelf, and the softest mattress in the house.
Marlowe House is a small townhouse hotel — no towers, no conveyor belt of guests. Just six considered rooms, a good bed, and someone at the desk who knows your name by the second morning.
Marlowe House began as a private townhouse and still feels like one. We kept the original staircase, widened the windows, and turned six of the best rooms in the building over to guests. Everything else — the coffee, the quiet, the person who unlocks the door — is ours to look after.
Whether you're here for one night between flights or a slow week exploring the neighbourhood, our aim is the same: a room that's honestly comfortable, and a stay that doesn't feel handled by a system.
Each room at Marlowe House carries its own key tag, its own light, and its own price. A preview of three below — see all six on the rooms page.

Our largest room, opening onto the courtyard garden. A sitting area, a proper desk, and morning light.
Under the eaves, with two sleeping areas — built for families or a longer stay with room to spread out.
Felt like staying with a very tidy friend who happened to own a beautiful old house.
The Garden Suite is worth booking months ahead. Best breakfast light of any room I've stayed in.
Reception remembered my flight was delayed and held the room key without a single phone call from me.
